Course Content

This course provides a hands-on introduction to the analysis of literary prose (narratology), poetry, drama, theatrical performance and film. The term 'text' is seen in its broadest sense and each teaching team member discusses ways of approaching and analyzing texts in form and meaning.

Learning Outcomes

General competencies

The students know different methods for analyzing texts (prose, poetry, drama, theater, film) and can critically estimate the advantages and disadvantages of a chosen method. The students are also able to apply these approaches autonomously in text analysis.

Grading

The final grade is composed based on the following categories:
Written Exam determines 100% of the final mark.

Within the Written Exam category, the following assignments need to be completed:

Written exam with a relative weight of 1 which comprises 100% of the final mark.

Note: During this exam the knowledge of the student will be tested via four types of questions:
1. Identifying terms and explaining them.
2. Reproductive question on a part of the syllabus
3. Evaluation of insight in the course in which different aspects of the course should be connected thoroughly
4. A question on the discussed theoretical texts
