Course Content

This course explores central concepts, philosophical discussions and normative issues on sexuality and is divided in 3 main parts:

1. Introduction to various philosophical and ethical perspectives,  conceptual issues and normative debates

2.  Socio-historical and critical approaches of sexual moralities, including feminist theory, critical race theory and queer studies

3. Specific topics and debates on agency, autonomy, objectification, sexual harassment/violence, intimate citizenship, sexual and reproductive rights

Learning Outcomes

General competencies

1. Students understand various philosophical approaches, concept and debates on sexuality.

2. Students understand how socio-historical evolutions impact on sexual values, norms and practices.

3. Students can critically reflect and develop an ethical argumentation with regard to current issues.
