Course Content

Understand  Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) architecture and execution using mono-processor computer architecture. Use real world PLC (Siemens). Learn Petri Net model and how it can be applied to PLCs. Learn how to program PLCs using Ladder diagram and Sequential programming (based on GRAFCET). Learn how to analyse and verify a PLC program.

Practical work accounts for 35% of the final mark.The exam is oral, no handbook allowed, two questions 20min of preparation, 5-10min of presentation and Q&A session.
