PLASTIC SURGERY TRAINEES IN THE LAST YEAR OF THEIR TRAINING
The aim of this postgraduate course is to create an official framework for the training within the fellowships of both national and international fellows within the plastic surgery department.
The plastic surgery department of UZ Brussel, chief of department Prof. M. Hamdi, has internationally renowned expertise in breast surgery, both reconstructive and aesthetic. It is also a European reference center for lymph surgery and reconstructive limb surgery.
These are highly specialized niches that are only discussed to a limited extent within the general training for plastic surgeons.
The intended learning outcomes are situated both in the organizational area of a department of plastic surgery, multidisciplinary consultation, intervention planning and preparation; as in a practical area with different surgical techniques and decision trees for treatment choice in the above domains. There is also a scientific section in which the critical evaluation of scientific literature is taught, just as the writing & publishing of scientific articles.
