Learning Outcomes

This master program has as general aim to educate competent engineers who can contribute to our society, on all levels and in different fields of application.
Following the level descriptors as described in Art.II.141 of the Codex Higher Education, the students have acquired at the end of their educational program the following competences:
General competencies at an advanced level:
A broad scientific and profound practical knowledge of technology, with attention to social, moral, juridical, economical and environmental aspects of their activities.
The students are ready for an international career with English as working language.
They are prepared to take up responsibilities, can withstand stress, can act individually but can also function in a group.
They are intellectually mobile and curious, they can act upon necessary evolutions, they are prepared for life-long learning, especially in their field of specialization.
They are able to contribute to the setup of R&D projects. 
General scientific competences at an advanced level:
To design and realize solutions, utilizing state-of-the-art knowledge in the various disciplines, complemented with recent research results and innovations.
Tackle research problems within the selected specialization by consulting and processing scientific literature, selecting the proper research methodology, planning, executing and reporting of scientific research.
To consult domain specific literature and to evaluate qualitatively and deploy flexibly new technologies.
To provide presentations utilizing contemporary means.
To be capable to communicate in a scientific manner ideas, problems and solutions to a public of specialists.
Scientific knowledge in the specific domain:
The master program aims at educating engineers adapted to the actual needs of our society. They have also a broad overview of the impact of electronics and informatics on industry, on economics and on the worldwide trade and commerce.
Because specialised courses and master theses are related to the actual research in the involved university departments, students have acquired the necessary attitudes and skills to participate actively in research, and consequently contribute to technological and/or scientific innovations.
The students have obtained a profound and active knowledge of the theory and applications of electronics and information technology, starting from the component up to the system level. This is because the students have learned, during their studies, to specify, design and evaluate individual components as well as complex systems.
Moreover, they have acquired during their studies:
(a) a profound knowledge of electronic circuits and systems; (b) knowledge of telecommunications and computer-controlled systems; (c) basic knowledge of information theory, treatment of signals and images, multimedia and photonics; (d) profound knowledge of modeling, system-identification, electric and electronic measurements and industrial control; (e) some basic knowledge of economics and management informatics and software engineering. 
The students have specialised in one of the above-mentioned disciplines by selecting a coherent package of optional course units and free electives.
By means of a master thesis the students have shown to be able to solve autonomously a specific scientific-technical problem.
